A tale of two cities; Los Angeles and San Francisco

This is story of Emma Rhodes and Tom Leary. The book explores a key mystery. Are they narcissists or just regular people living in LA?

Picture this, sunshine: a smog-soaked surfer of words, born in the toxic brine of Cali's underbelly. Zee, they call him, a soul chipped at the edges by aspiring Instababes and empty bank accounts. Imagine Icarus, but instead of feathers, his wings were woven from sun-bleached cynicism and regret. Lost in the Frisco freakshow, he danced with oblivion, a waltz with the taxman as his partner.

Then, bam! Life flipped him the bird, left him face-down in a puddle of his own despair. But that's the rub, see? Desperation breeds diamonds, and out of that puddle crawled a phoenix with a novel under its wing – "God Hates LA, I Am Not a Narcissist" a cult classic inked in self-loathing. Zee wrote it with the teeth of his soul, a raw portrait of humanity's underbelly bathed in neon.

Light and dark, baby, that's his jam. His words swing like a bipolar pendulum, one sentence whispering redemption, the next spitting vitriol. Honesty, he says, is the only currency worth a damn, the filter for the phonies that clog the corridors of your life.

Now, you might find him haunting the Berkeley cafes, eyes glazed over like a donut dipped in existentialism. Don't be fooled by the daze, though. That's where the magic cooks, the next masterpiece simmering in the crockpot of his mind. So next time you're sipping java in the East Bay, keep an eye peeled for the ghost of a smile beneath a mop of sun-bleached hair. That, my friend, might just be Zee Javed, conjuring demons and diamonds with a pen dipped in the ink of his own damn soul.

Remember, sunshine, the brightest flames often start in the darkest puddles. Just ask Zee. He'll tell you all about it, over a lukewarm macchiato and a fistful of existential angst. You've been warned.
